How do you express your gratitude?
Gratitude is something I try to do as an everyday activity. If I’m at a restaurant, I will thank the staff for looking after me. They serve, they’re attentive, and they are actually looking after you the way you would look after someone who came to your home for a meal. Not enough people express their gratitude to them so I go out of my way to do so.
Another thing I have done in the past is a morning gratitude journal with my husband. We haven’t done it since just before we found out his cancer had spread but I want to re-implement it into our lives.

I will write three reasons for being grateful that morning, then my husband will tell me three reasons why he’s grateful that morning, and then I read mine out to him. It’s a beautiful start to the day that we were prompted to do by a motivation friend of mine I found through Facebook.
I know I have a lot to work through at the moment due to cancer being a traumatic journey but I will start here by listing three things I’m grateful for and tomorrow I will insert it into my morning routine again.
1st gratitude

I am grateful for being able to spend time with my husband and experiencing life with him right now. All I have left are memories when he’s gone and I want to make the most of every day I have now with him. He’s my best friend and the person I love hanging out with the most so I’m blessed to have adventures with an amazing man.
2nd gratitude

I am grateful for football nights at the stadium with my family and my best friend. It’s a really fun night where we can all spend time together and it breaks up the monotony of caring and housekeeping. I love the exciting atmosphere and I love the Canberra Raiders Viking clap and Viking horn sounds. I can also take my knitting and keep myself sitting calmly whilst the match is being played.
3rd gratitude

I am grateful for craft and textile markets and fun trips with my daughter. I love sharing a fun and creative hobby with her and days where we can immerse ourselves around other crafters, and fun side quests like kissing sheep are pure magic. I’m so proud of myself for having enough skill to knit and crochet, even if I don’t know everything yet and I’m not perfect. The ability to see your creations take shape is priceless.
I will leave you with this quote for tonight:
“When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the food and the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself”
